Keynote speeches

How do you hold an audience’s attention after a large lunch?  Especially when it’s delivered online?

I find that a great keynote speech, sprinkled with just the right amount of interactivity, works a treat.

If it’s a business audience, I make sure there are in-your-face, you-can-do-this-at-work tomorrow takeaways, rather than just vague concepts that are too easily forgotten.

If the audience just wants to relax, I can skip the workplace takeaways …  I always customise my keynotes to meet your audience’s needs.

I’m a TV journalist and news presenter with more than 30 years of stories and takeaway tips based on that amazing experience at the BBC.  I only left the Corporation in October 2020, so all my material is bang up to date.

But these talks aren’t about me.

They’re based on the hundreds of stories I’ve covered as a TV reporter, and the eye-opening lessons they can teach us about business and life.

Here are 3 examples of the kind of content I offer:

  • The Secret Life of a News Bulletin — and how that can help your Business. An edge-of-the seat video illustrated insight into how TV newsreaders keep their heads on live television … while all hell is breaking loose in the control room.  Great takeaways there about agility and brisk, no-nonsense communication.
  • Seven Tales from the Newsroom.  Sit back and relax as I tell seven stories from 30 years in a TV newsroom, illustrated with video clips, that reveal important (and surprising) lessons about life and agility in business.
  • Trust — and how to deliver it down a microphone.  My latest keynote designed for the post-Covid audience, revealing the secrets that all broadcasters know about being succinct and engaging on air — translated into practical tips and advice that can be used with a phone and a microphone to create video content for websites, social media, intranets and newsletters.

All my keynote speeches can be adapted for length and for any audience, delivered online or face-to-face.  Just get in touch to let me know what you need.

Event hosting

Having presented TV news for most of my working life, I can take the strain out of event hosting and keep everything running bang on time.

As a thoughtful journalist, my quick and sensitive on-stage interviews will bring out the emotional power of any Awards Event.

What’s more, my experience at the cliff-edge of Live TV News broadcasts mean I’m a safe pair of hands for an online event.  I recently proved my worth three times when the tech went down at an Online Conference!

After all, once you’ve dealt successfully with politicians during live election debates, you can handle just about anything – and keep it all to time.

I’m a jargon buster.  As an event host, I’ve chaired debates on all manner of complex topics, including GDPR and Public Sector Procurement, whilst making sure the audience is never bamboozled by technical language.
